RIP IT UP Reading: Australia's Leading researched Working Memory Reading Program

« Back to News

10% of children in every mainstream class have deficits in their Working Memory and this impacts on their learning - specifically in reading and mathematics.

Working Memory is the ability to work with information - that is the conscious processing of information -
in other words what we do every day. For kids, they need to follow multi-layered directions in the classroom: get out the right textbook, turn to the right page, follow the order of instructions whilst trying to remember the previous instruction in an environment where distraction, both auditory and visual are at times excessive.

RIP IT UP Reading is a researched reading intervention program that has been designed to focus particularly on those children who have deficits in the way they process, file and retrieve information.

RIP IT UP Reading is not a Band-Aid program, it takes those bottom 10% of children with deficits in their Working Memory and teaches them to read.

When we say read, we mean it! No guessing, no substituting, no using a picture for prompting, no guided reading... real reading!

RIP IT UP Reading is now available in schools.
